A young lady who did not want the illegitimate baby she gave birth to, decided to do the unthinkable by throwing the one-day-old infant from the window of a two storey building in Enugu State.
According to witnesses, the incident which happened at Ezeani Street in New Haven area of the state, threw the residents into confusion, rage and horror when the dead body new born baby boy was found in the morning of Tuesday, January 26.
It was gathered that the culprit who has been arrested and is being detained by the police, was allegedly impregnated by an unknown person but had been concealing the unwanted pregnancy for quite sometime and when she successfully delivered the baby all by herself at her residence.
She then wrapped the boy as well as the placenta in a blanket and threw from the two storey building in a bid to do away with the child. The child’s skull was reportedly shattered and he died instantly.
When residents made the gory discovery, they alerted the New Haven police division which led to the lady’s arrest and she is said to have confessed to the act.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident, upon examination, the lady was discovered to be still bleeding, an indication that she was responsible for the wicked act. He added that she is helping the police in their investigations.
